Call for Evidence

Dyslexia, dyscalculia, dyspraxia and dysgraphia refer to various types of learning differences.  More information about these conditions can be found here (Enhance the UK) and here (British Dyslexia Association).

The Select Committee will:

  • examine the incidence of dyslexia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia and dyspraxia in the Isle of Man and the provision for assisting said population groups in education;
  • consider whether this is in line with the Equality Act (2017); and
  • review the possible solutions documented in the Petition for Redress.

The Committee would like to invite written submissions from anyone who would like to comment on these issues.  The Committee is particularly interested in hearing from those with direct experience of accessing services for dyslexia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia and dyspraxia on Island.

Submissions should be sent to the address below by noon on Friday 24th January 2025. Email is preferred but hard copy is equally acceptable.  Alternative accessible formats can be arranged on request.

Please be aware that the Committee may choose to make public any information it receives. Personal contact details are routinely redacted in advance of such publication. If there is any other information in your submission that you do not wish the Committee to publish, or that you believe the Committee should not publish, please explain this in your submission.

If you would be interested in appearing before the Committee to give oral evidence, please state this in your submission and provide your contact details.
