Tynwald Day is the  Manx National Day on which an ancient ceremony takes place at St John's. Music plays an important role in the ceremony and the surrounding events. The Commons

The day begins, the day begins and sets.
This we have in common: the sun that warms
our hills and fields, that soothes and forms
the frail and precious moments of our lives.
We have a common start.

The day begins, the day begins and sets.
This we have in common: a past
that must be named, faced, dragged or invited to the light,
to ever have a promise of peace after the violent night.
To renounce the dark, the dreams of greed and hate,
we need a common art.

The day begins, the day begins and sets.
This we have in common: a free and glorious right,
a rooted flourishing, to grow to all that’s bright
and sing a song of joy in our glad homes.
Oh, we all of us have a common longing and a common heart.

From the smallest islands to the citied plains,
a common hope to reap a better fruit from seeds of fear,
a transfigured tenderness will break our common chains,
to hail a common, rainbow future drawing near.

The day begins, the day begins and sets.
The only earth we have: in common.
The only health we have: in common.
The only real wealth: in common.

Still in all our places,
light on all our faces,
hope for all our races:
